What’s the first step to take when setting a tabletop for a Easter brunch or dinner and other occasions this spring?
Spring is definitely my favorite time of year for decorating tabletops. I love the longer days and warmer weather that bring people together for Sunday brunch or an early dinner. My design style for these events leans towards a more organic, natural, and casual feel. The first step to take when designing your table is a great white linen tablecloth. The texture and color is the perfect backdrop for any tablescape. I like to add a burlap runner down the center of the table and use neutral tones for the place settings.
What accessories do you like to incorporate for a stylish tablescape?
I love adding ceramic pottery (our 1882ltd and MQuan lines have beautiful pieces that add dimension and height to a table), and I have started mixing metals. The look of brass and iron accessories – like vases and napkin rings – gives an eclectic touch to the table.
Florals are a big part of any Easter table – tell us your favorites:
Instead of your standard glass vases, I think it’s fun to use a basket or an unique piece of pottery for your florals. I believe that Easter is all about beautiful flowers that are in season this time of year. I always incorporate branches – Cherry Blossoms, Olive Branches, and even Palm. Adding greenery such as eucalyptus with one flower serving as your pop of color – you really can’t go wrong with white and green! Some of my favorite florals are Casablanca Lilies, Calla Lilies, Iris, Gerber Daises, Tulips, Queen Anne’s Lace and my favorite – hydrangeas.
What colors do you love for spring table settings?
Pink is my favorite color for Easter, however purple is very popular this year. You have to incorporate some color to the table to make it feel like Easter. I add in a whimsical element that the kids will love – a very subtle addition of chocolates, dyed eggs, or even a bunny made of twigs. I love a beautiful table but its all about simple elegance, less is more!
